Engineers Without Borders Society: Welfare Officer

Hi, my name is Akhi and I’m a third year EEE student. I joined EWB because I am very passionate about applying my engineering skills to solve real world problems, allowing me to see tangible results of my efforts and gain a greater appreciation for my course.
I am applying for the role of welfare officer because I have personally dealt with mental health challenges in university and know what it’s like to not have anyone to really talk to about it, leading to feelings of isolation and self-doubt. Therefore, having been through it alone, I have learnt how to navigate those challenges and would like to spread my knowledge to prevent other people who are struggling with personal issues from having to go through it alone, particularly in a society where we are trying to improve other people’s lives, meaning we shouldn’t be struggling with our own problems before we can do that
