I am excited to run for treasurer of EWB at UCL, a club that shares similar visions to my own. Putting global responsibility at the heart of engineering is not only the purpose of EWB, but also the reason that I am studying mechanical engineering and my motivation to learn.
I don’t only plan to speak about my ideas and motivations, but also to get things done. During my time in school, I founded the first engineering club that was specialized in sustainability and tackling global challenges. I lead the club for two years, hosting numerous competitions and events, including an inter-school sustainable engineering competition in the form of a case study, very similar to those hosted by EWB. Alongside leading the club, I was responsible for funding our events, which included sourcing, managing and distributing funds. As part of this responsibility, I secured sponsorships from organizations like Masdar, that provided internships to our competition winners.
I hope to bring the skills and experiences that I developed when leading similar clubs at my school to EWB. By taking on the role of treasurer, I plan to learn and improve the management and distribution of funds at EWB across various events.
Thank you truly for your time and I’ll be honored to receive your vote for treasurer at EWB.
