Energy Society: G3 Officer

My passion in sustainability and energy, and my personal challenge to push myself outside of my comfort zone have led me to pursue the role of a G3 Officer. I understand that as a G3 Officer, I am responsible to ensure that this prestigious flagship event runs smoothly by coordinating with the guest speakers and other societies, and managing the logistics. By being in the committee, I am able to achieve both of my goals; to involve in a energy-related discussion and push my limits in making the utmost preparation to host a large-scale prestigious event.

I recognise that in a by-election, the committee needs a candidate who exhibits resilience and agility, and provide immediate strategic value. My experience in leading the marketing team for IORex 2022,  and my management skills as a Communication Management Committee for the Malaysia Upstream Awards 2023, means I am ready to execute the tasks and ensure that the G3 Summit remains the premier student-led energy event in Europe!

Scientific discussion is at the heart of societal progression, making the G3 Summit increasingly important considering the current climate crisis. As such, I would be eager to take up the position as G3 Officer and help facilitate this important convergence of ideas and information.
As Deputy Head Girl and founder of my secondary school’s Physics Society, I often undertook and organised events, reached out to speakers to give lectures and proactively found solutions to challenges. I am a very effective communicator and feel confident corresponding with professionals, so coordinating this event is something I believe I would thrive at.
I received a Gold CREST Award for my research into making the aviation industry more sustainable through solar, nuclear and battery power. In this project I explored the efficiency of such systems, the limitations currently posed against this progression, and ideas for implementation. The multidisciplinary lens I adopted for this project is well-represented by my degree, Natural Sciences, and moreover by Energy Society itself - I am very interested by how the energy discussion lends itself to different fields and disciplines. I would aim to expand G3’s reach by coordinating with other societies, and bringing in a wide range of speakers to offer diverse perspectives on the challenges and solutions to consider.
Hosting this space for intellectual discussion is a really exciting opportunity and I would feel privileged to play a role in this event.
