Civil Engineering Society: Industrial Officer

Hi everyone, I’m Anton, a third-year Civil Engineering student and Interim CivSoc Industrial Officer, and I’m running to be your official Industrial Officer.

I’m passionate about strengthening the connection between students and the industry. Having been part of the department for over two years, I’ve noticed a lack of events that show us what the industry is doing and where it’s heading—the innovations, challenges, and trends shaping our future careers. I want to bridge that gap by creating more opportunities for students to engage directly with professionals, gain insights, and discover their own paths after graduation.

For those who know me, I’m approachable and always up for a good conversation—qualities I believe are essential in this role. If elected, I’ll expand CivSoc’s industry engagement through networking events, hackathons, and speaker nights—all designed to help students connect, learn, and grow.

Over the past four months as Interim Industrial Officer, I’ve been the main point of contact for industry partners and led outreach to companies. I’m proud that this year’s Careers Fair hosted 14 firms—more than double last year’s number—most of which I personally invited and persuaded to join. I’m also organising a new series of industry talks covering a range of topics to help students gain real-world insights.
