Junie Yeung

Hi everyone! I’m Junie and I would love to be your team captain this year.

This is my third year in cheer and it’s safe to say that Lightning has become my second home and family. Being on Bolt this year has brought me so much joy, no matter whether we are laughing or locking in during training. I am incredibly proud of all the progress we have achieved so far and I am so grateful for all the friendships and memories we share. It would be an honour to give back to this amazing community.

Over the years, I have gained a range of leadership experience (including being captain of my senior school’s volleyball team and medical society), and I am confident in my ability to support everyone on and off mat. I am also a very organised person, having helped with admin work at hospitals and clinics, and I will put in the effort to ensure that Bolt runs as smoothly as possible. My goal is to foster a fun and supportive environment, from organising socials this year (like ice skating in the winter and picnics when it’s warmer!) to making sure everyone feels valued and heard. I am always here for a chat or to lend a listening ear, and I hope to be someone you can trust and rely on. :)

Thank you for considering me for captain - I can’t wait to become YOUR biggest cheerleader this season! 💜

Lots of love,

Junie

Talia Guillet

Being part of this team has been such an incredible experience, not just because of the sport, but because of the people behind it. From cheering each other on at training to sending chaotic stickers in the chat, the dedication, positivity, and love everyone brings make Bolt truly special. It’s such a supportive, motivating space, and I can’t be prouder to be part of it.

I’m running for Captain because I want to help us reach our full potential, both on and off the mat. Our division is competitive, but with our determination and trust in one another,  we can win Nationals. More than aiming for medals, I want to build a team that feels like a true sisterhood, where everyone feels seen, supported, and confident to push their limits. Coming from a dance background, I’ve learnt to value precision and teamwork. I naturally notice small details that make a big difference in our performance and I hope to use that to help us polish routines.

But success isn’t just about hitting zero, it’s about making sure we’re all healthy, mentally and physically. I have many ideas for both fun and fitness: from Friendsmas and Galentines, to group runs or pilates that keep our bond strong and our spirits high.

Bolt has given me so much joy and community and I want to give that back: to make every training purposeful, every competition exciting, and every teammate feel supported. With energy and determination, I’ll do everything I can to lead us through our strongest, happiest season yet.

Love you all<3

Alice Burrows

Heyyyy! I'm Alice and I would love to be your Bolt Captain for the 25/26 Season - gonna be the best one yet just saying. If you don't know me already, you've probably heard me (broadest northern accent at UCL) and I'll leave it at that. I have been doing Uni cheer since last year, starting on Flash, but have been waving pom-poms around since I was just 4 years old. I absolutely adore the sport and everyone involved in Lightning, and I would love to represent the club as well as all of my bestie boos in Bolt. I can't wait to tell you everything  I have planned for the team and the Club, and I want to show you why you should vote for me as your captain! (One idea being an exclusive Bolt Instagram - I created one for Flash last year ;) ). I love the bond that Bolt has already, even after only a month, and I am so super duper excited to see how much we grow as a team and to hopefully win natty champs!!!! See you on the 17th where you can hear me talk more than I already do. Plz vote for me I'll buy u cupcakes. UCL LIGHTNING BOLT

Aliya Darbandi

Hi! My name is Aliya Darbandi, and it is my first year on Bolt :) I am a MSc student, and I previously studied at Sussex. I previously cheered on Waves (Uni of Sussex and Uni of Brighton - Level 2) for 2 years, and 1 year at Ultimate Cheer (Allstars - Level 2/3)

I believe that I would be an excellent captain due to my previous cheerleading background! I was the on the committee for my previous cheer team as a Fundraiser, and ran events every month and raised over £4000 in one year :) I helped get my non-tumble  team to get 2nd place at BCA, and was awarded Most Improved from my team! I work extremely hard, and never give up on trying to be better at cheer. There’s always something to improve at, as a team, and I am always willing to put the work in!

I have previously been both a side base and a front, as well as a current flyer so I am able to understand different aspects of cheer. I always want to help out my teammates, both with choreo and emotionally. Cheer can be taxing mentally and physically, and I am always willing to support my teammates as we are in this together!!

I am extremely organised, and balance my job and masters already and I love organising so  helping with attendance will be fun. And I love to bake and give treats as a reward for all of our hard work, and bond together.

I am happy to help out anyone, and get to know everyone better! So please vote me as your Bolt Captain this year.

Lots of love to you all! Thank you xx
