I see business as more than spreadsheets and suits, it’s about curiosity, creativity, and connecting people who want to make things happen. I’ve always loved taking ideas from zero to something tangible, and as Director, I’d bring that same energy to the society: a mix of strategic thinking, organisation, and a good sense of humour to keep things running smoothly (and sanely).
My goal would be to make the UCL Business Society the beating heart of student ambition, a space where first-years find inspiration, second-years find opportunities, and final-years find people who actually get their goals. From impactful panels and networking nights that don’t feel forced, to collaborations that push members out of their comfort zones, I’d make sure every initiative reflects what business at UCL should be: ambitious, forward-thinking, and genuinely exciting to be part of.
Your first year in UCL should be more than lectures, it should launch your success. I’m Rustam, and I’m running for Business Society Director to make that vision a reality!
Leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about action, strategy, and results. I have experience as the head boy, I led Model UN conferences, media teams, and creative projects, gaining experience in managing teams, planning initiatives, and delivering results that matter. As Director, I will ensure our Society empowers every single member, providing opportunities to grow, network, and develop skills that prepare us for real-world success.
I am aways excited to listen to your ideas, incorporate feedback, and make sure our Society thrives as a community where everyone feels involved and motivated. My goal is a Business Society that inspires leadership and gives every member the tools to succeed. Vote for me if you want a Director who combines vision, professionalism, and creativity, someone who doesn’t just lead, but builds opportunities, strengthens our community, and drives real impact.
Together, let’s make our Business Society a launchpad for success!
To be a fantastic director 3 skills are fundamental. These skills are, leadership, critical thinking, and creativity. These skills are important for directors to not only manage and organise their society through pre-assigned projects and issues, but also to help lead them in new directions, tackling more inventive projects and problems. I am standing for this position because I feel my experiences have given me a greater grasp of these skills which will make me a fantastic director. Whilst I was taking part in summer work experience internships at both PwC and XpertiseNow I was able to really hone in my analytical processing and business acumen through complex research tasks and operations. These opportunities allowed me to improve on my critical thinking in a more professional setting. Having co-founded societies such as investment & finance society aswell as captaining football and basketball first teams, I have had plenty of experience working on my communication and collaboration skills, heightening my ability to lead and succeed. Finally, through co-founding projects like Scholar-Up, a non-profit designed to support university education in Manila, I developed an entrepreneurial mindset and creativity which I didn’t have before. This way of thinking allowed me at the time to overcome many challenges aswell as lead the project into various new prosperous directions. I intend to use all of these skills to support business society and be the best director possible.
