Ophelia Chan

Hi! I’m Ophelia, a first-year BSc Psychology student, and I’m running for Events Director at BIS. I am fascinated by the multifaceted nature of behavioural science, especially how the adaptive unconscious influences our thoughts and actions. This makes me passionate about organising events that allow members to engage with each other whilst exchanging exciting ideas in behavioural science and psychology. I believe that holding events is a powerful way to unite BIS as a society. Not only can they build a sense of community amongst student members, but they can also encourage curiosity and insights towards various topics in behavioural science.

Previously, I was the academic ambassador for Psychology at my sixth form. My role included assisting the Psychology department during Open days, organising revision materials for exams, and spreading my interest in Psychology to fellow students. I had also taken part in the National British Brain Bee competition, in which I came top 50 in the country.

As a proposed candidate for Events Director, I look forward to providing an enriched experience for members throughout the academic year. This includes maintaining the large range of interactive events held by the BIS (e.g. game nights, competitions, balls) and ensuring smooth communications in planning processes. Most importantly, I would value the inclusivity of events, so that every member can have something they enjoy.

Please vote for me as an Events Director, thank you! :)
