I am running for Events Officer because I love planning, organising, and bringing people together. I have lots of ideas for events and would love to share Arab and North African culture with the community. As a Libyan, I know this society is a home away from home for many of us, and I want to help make it even better by creating events that everyone can enjoy.
As events officer, I would take members opinions and feedback on event ideas so we can organise events that you all want and enjoy. I would make sure there is something for everyone e.g. sports, charity and girls only events. I also think it would be great to collaborate with other societies and universities to create bigger events that bring different groups together.
I am an organised and reliable person who pays attention to detail, so events go smoothly and as planned. I’ve helped plan and coordinate social nights and other events in the past, which has taught me how to manage time well, communicate clearly, and make sure everyone has a great experience.
My creativity, commitment, and teamwork skills would make me a strong events officer. I’d love the chance to contribute to Arab and North African society this year and help make every event something people look forward to.
Ahlan!
Last year, I was Charity Officer and I genuinely loved the energy of the committee. Working together on projects like our Ramadan Iftar with Human Appeal gave me solid experience with logistics, coordination and the network behind the scenes. I would be so grateful to take things further this year as Events Officer.
I want to be more creative with ideas like hosting a big Arab Boat Party, organizing more interactive cultural nights and creating collaborations that bring our community together in new ways. Trust me in this process, I’ll make sure Arab Soc becomes the place to be!
I'm excited to nominate myself for Events Officer in the Arab and North African UCL Society because I genuinely think I can bring something special to the role. Being half Moroccan, half Iraqi, I feel like I get the best of both worlds, and I’d love to help celebrate and share that mix of cultures with everyone. I’ve got good organisation skills, and I’m always up for planning events that bring people together in fun, engaging ways. My goal is to help organise more regular, exciting events that people can look forward to, whether it’s for learning, socialising, or just celebrating our cultures. I’m super keen to contribute and help make our society a space where everyone feels connected and has a great time.
About me: I’m someone who thrives on connection. I love creating spaces that feel alive, warm, and full of energy. I’ve always been drawn to bringing people together through shared culture, conversation, and creativity. I’m social and organised but also intentional, and I care about making every event feel like something people remember, not just attend.
Relevant experience: At UCL, I’ve been on committees for the Law Society, Fashion Business Society, and Tennis Society, where I helped organise events that blended professionalism with fun. With Fashion Business, I managed outreach and helped secure speakers from Vogue and major brands. In Law Society, I worked on campaigns and collaborations that increased engagement, and through Tennis, I coordinated training sessions and socials for more than 200 members.
Outside UCL, I interned at Al Jazeera, where I learned how to tell stories that connect people and communicate across cultures. That experience strengthened my creativity, teamwork, and ability to make every project feel purposeful and engaging.
Intentions: The North Arab and African Society feels like home. It’s a space where identity, pride, and community come together. I want to build on that by helping host top tier cultural nights, networking events, and collaborations with other societies across universities that celebrate who we are. I want every event to feel authentic, welcoming, and full of life, a reflection of both our shared roots and individual stories.
