I am keen to apply for the welfare officer position on the anthropology society’s committee. I believe I would be a good fit for this role due to my awareness of student support at UCL and my positive attitude.
I have volunteered at the Sir John Soane’s museum with their learning department for the past two years. I help run family drop-in sessions and workshops for children with a variety of age ranges in a team of 3-4 people. These workshops require me to be a welcoming and friendly point of contact for the children as I assist them with the activities and lead them on tours around the museum. I also tutor children aged 14-16 in GCSE Chemistry. This role has taught me how to create a supportive space for my students to foster a good learning environment.
Additionally, my experience in planning and running events during my internship at iProbono, a global group of social justice organisations based in the UK and South Asia, would allow me to effectively run welfare events in collaboration with the Events Manager.
Furthermore, my own experiences at UCL have allowed me to become more aware of student support systems in place. I am confident in my ability to provide the necessary support to my peers and assist them in accessing these services if they need them.
I believe my outlined experiences and skills make me a strong candidate for this position. I hope that I can be a kind, welcoming face and I thank you for your consideration!
Hey everyone! Inclusivity is a key part of what makes a society thrive, and as Welfare Officer I’d love to help create a more diverse and welcoming Anthropology Society. As a Human Scientist, with a degree that bridges Biosciences and Anthropology, I hope to bring both sides of my course together and get more of my peers involved in society activities. I'll also be a friendly face that you can count on to deliver engaging wellbeing events.
