Yasmeen Siddiqui

I am keen to apply for the role of secretary on the anthropology society’s committee. I believe I would be a good fit for this role due to my organisation skills and attention to detail.

I have thorough experience in minute taking and event organisation through my internship with iProbono, a global group of social justice organisations based in the UK and South Asia. My role involved taking detailed notes during board meetings, planning fundraising events, and ensuring events ran according to the itinerary.

Additionally, I have volunteered at the Sir John Soane’s museum with their learning department for the past two years. I help run family drop-in sessions and workshops for children with a variety of age ranges in a team of 3-4 people. These workshops require me to be proactive as I have to monitor groups of 10-15 children as I take them on a tour and ensure that they do not touch anything. I also restock the art supply cupboard, set up the space for the activity, and ensure the space is clean after the workshop. These tasks involve taking initiative, an attention to detail, and effective communication with my co-workers to ensure the activity runs smoothly.

I would love the opportunity to play a more active role both in this society and through engagement with the department. I believe that my experience and skills developed through my internship and volunteering make me a strong candidate for this position. Thank you for your consideration!
