I’m running for the Welfare Officer position because I am deeply committed to the wellbeing and support of our society’s members. I believe that a strong welfare foundation is essential to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to thrive.
Through this role, I aim to be an advocate for your concerns and work actively to improve access to resources that support mental health, personal development, and social connectivity. Whether it’s organizing wellness programs, addressing issues of accessibility, or providing safe spaces for open conversations, I am dedicated to ensuring that each member has the support they need to enjoy and benefit fully from our society. Furthermore I want to develop and put the emphasis on the social side of the society and build a true and strong community out of it.
Moreover, I’m committed to implementing initiatives that not only address immediate needs but also foster long-term wellbeing for all members. I plan to listen carefully, act decisively, and work transparently to foster a culture where all feel they truly belong. By standing for this position, I hope to bridge gaps, bring our community closer together.
PS: I am the guy in the blue suit on the picture
I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every member feels seen, heard, and valued. Recognizing our society’s diverse backgrounds, I will prioritize inclusivity and promote a culture that respects and embraces everyone. My primary goal is to ensure that UCLUNA remains a welcoming space where members can engage confidently.
I will implement regular welfare check-ins to capture the voices and concerns of all members, alongside anonymous surveys, open discussions, and one-on-one conversations. This proactive approach will ensure members’ well-being is consistently prioritized.
Understanding that events are central to UCLUNA’s activities, I will ensure all gatherings are accessible and inclusive. I will oversee accommodations such as wheelchair access, sign language interpretation, and sensory-friendly environments.
Welfare is a collective responsibility, and I will collaborate with other committee members to integrate it into UCLUNA’s operations. By embedding welfare provisions into planning, we create a supportive experience for members. I will advocate for training and resources to enhance the committee’s response to welfare needs.
My vision is to build a community that nurtures a culture of support. Through mental health awareness, stress management workshops, and peer networks, UCLUNA will be a place where members thrive. I pledge to remain approachable, empathetic, and committed to continuous improvement, making UCLUNA a beacon of safety, support, and inclusivity.
Hi! I’m Sophie Chee, a second year student taking Politics and International Relations. I’ve always been proud to be part of this society which not only allowed me to join conferences where I’ve gained so much valuable experience in debating and speaking, but also created amazing friendships with other delegates and staff in the London circuit. I have been to many training sessions and have been part of many conferences and events. I also have both delegate experience and chairing experience, having chaired both beginner and advanced committees from WHA to UNSC, so I understand the varied worries or queries that society members may have. MUN can be a daunting activity, no matter for first timers or the most experienced. Therefore, as the Welfare Officer, I will:
-
Ensure that others in the society can learn a lot from our events and training, make valuable connections and great memories
-
Be the first point of contact for any queries, issues or worries for all members within the society, which can be on multiple social media platforms
-
Communicate with different society members and provide advice for any issues or questions
Moreover, I’m good at scheduling events and handling admin, so I can arrange support and extra training sessions if needed, which can help members improve especially if they are less confident with speaking in normal sessions. I will strive to enforce and increase the welfare and support given to all members in the society.
