Hello everyone! My name is Savane, and I’d like to put myself forward as a candidate for Vice President.
Last year, I took on the role of unofficial social media rep, which gave me valuable insight into helping our society grow. I learned what types of events engage people, how to create a welcoming atmosphere, and how to be approachable so others feel comfortable relying on me.
In this role, I would work towards:
- Bringing People Together: Hosting and organizing more fun events to strengthen connections within our community.
- Spreading the Word: Celebrating our culture and community while raising awareness about the current situation in Sudan.
- Supporting Each Other: Creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable and at home. This last point is especially important to me, as balancing our lives here in the UK with our concern for family and friends in Sudan has been heavy on all of us. I’d love to help create a space that feels like home, just as last year’s committee did for me.
I love our community and everything we do to celebrate our culture, especially during these challenging times, so I’d be thrilled to help lead the way. Thank you for considering me for VP!
