There is one Sports Rep position available, and this position will sit on the Activities Zone alongside the other five Sports Reps!

In order to vote for this position, you must be a member of a Union-affiliated Sports Club.

Sports Reps will aid the Sports Officer in developing the following areas! 

  • Varsity & Competition - Organising and promoting varsity.
  • Sports Night -  Being a point of contact for Milkshake promoters/ SU bar managers and passing on student feedback.
  • Campaigns - Working closely with TeamUCL staff to lead the way on new and existing campaigns.
  • Alumni & Events - Expanding our alumni networks through the Mandy Walker games and supporting fundraising initiatives at a club level, working to increase the engagement of our mass-participation events like the campus run, and the swimathon. 
  • Volunteering & Workforce Development - Supporting clubs to expand their volunteering initiatives and developing and supporting our student coaching network.
  • Facilities - Being a contact for advocating for better facilities for TeamUCL and attending the Somers Town Sports Centre User Group and Bloomsbury Fitness User Group, representing students.

Nancy Yang (Miss)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a UCL sport rep, I will bring a dynamic combination of enthusiasm, leadership, and dedication to fostering an inclusive and vibrant sports culture at UCL. My proactive approach will focus on representing the interests of students, ensuring that their voices are heard and their sporting experiences are enhanced. I am committed to promoting participation across all levels, creating opportunities for everyone to engage, whether they are seasoned athletes or newcomers eager to explore new activities.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My primary aim is to increase participation in sports and recreational activities by promoting inclusivity and making sports accessible to individuals of all skill levels and backgrounds. I intend to advocate for better resources and support for both competitive teams and casual sports enthusiasts to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to stay active. I also hope to strengthen communication and collaboration between student athletes, sports clubs, and the university administration to address any challenges and improve the overall experience.

I am dedicated to advocating for students' needs and ensuring that sports and recreational activities are accessible and enjoyable for everyone. I believe my strong leadership and communication skills will be able to foster a supportive environment for all athletes and enthusiasts at UCL. 

Rudee Robinson (She/Her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a UCL Sports Rep my main aims will be to improve and help to professionalise sport at UCL. I think sport at UCL should be afforded more appreciation and recognition in the role it plays in student's every day life, contributing to mental and physical well-being and development. UCL has many amazing teams with hundreds of dedicated members and it has the potential and capability to compete and the highest level nationally. In this role, I would bring my experience of Elite sport and professional structures to help TeamUCL harness its potential.

I have played netball for over 10 years and have played Semi-professionally and on a national stage for a number of years. I am the 1st Team Captain at UCL and i also dedicate many hours outside of UCL to netball and netball coaching. 

I started university in France and on top of being President of Sports of Sciences Po Paris, I also played for Netball Paris. In the UK I have played for the Superleague teams Wasps, Severn Stars and London Pulse.

I am a dedicated and driven purpose who works well in a team to deliver collective goals. I take on leadership well and have many years experience in demonstrating role model qualities in the sports world. 

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If I achieve the role of Sports Rep, I would work on improving UCL's access to venues for matches and training. I would endeavour to find ways to help fund sports at UCL so that they are accessible to everyone and so that UCL can compete against the other top universities in the country. I would engage directly with society Presidents to make sure their voices are heard and so that the members of each club know how they can get their points flagged. I would aim to work cohesively with my 5 other reps to establish a pathway for future sports reps and create a foundation for future reps.

If you are looking for a committed and experienced sports leader to be your UCL Sports Rep then I believe I would make your perfect candidate. I would work in the interest of increasing participation of UCL students in sport so that we have a more active community. As an Elite athlete i would bring an extra outlook to the team and ensure that voices from all along the spectrum of athletes at UCL are heard. I would aim to grow the importance of sport and BUCS at UCL so that it is given the recognition that it deserves. I would work  with the team to fulfil our roles and represent UCL.

Alanis Hernandez Vasquez (She/Her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring a blend of experience and enthusiasm for sports, along with skills in leadership, communication, and team work. As a sports coach, I have developed a strong ability to engage and motivate others, foster teamwork, and support individuals in achieving their goals. My experience as a Peer Action Researcher has further strengthened my communication and organisational skills, as it requires active listening and understanding the needs of a group. These skills will be valuable in creating an inclusive sports environment where everyone feels encouraged to participate, regardless of their skill level.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If I'm elected, I hope to make university sports more inclusive and accessible to all students. I plan to promote a range of sports and fitness activities that appeal to different interests and skill levels, so there’s something for everyone. I also want to foster a stronger sense of community among students by organising regular events, friendly competitions, and opportunities for team-building. Ultimately, I aim to encourage more students to get involved in sports, as I believe this contributes not only to physical health but also to well-being, friendships, and resilience.

Students should vote for me because I am committed to making sports a positive and accessible part of the university experience. I believe that everyone, regardless of skill level or background, deserves the opportunity to participate, connect, and enjoy the benefits of sports. I will ensure that all voices are heard and I’ll seek feedback to offer events and activities that genuinely reflect student's interests. With my background in coaching and experience in community-focused roles, I am dedicated to creating an environment where students can grow, connect, and thrive through sports.
