My name is Jonny Cragg, and I'm a third year straight physics student. I've been in this society for 3 years now and I have a rapport with physics students and researchers at a wide variety of universities around the UK. I'd like to put that knowledge to good use in a role as one of the Physics Society's Social Secretaries.

From my experience as a Transition Mentor, I'm familiar with both the present and future of the physics society, and I'm aware of what events appeal to those just now joining the Physics Society.

The Physics society has been on a distinct upward trajectory since its association with the SU in 2023, and I intend to help it reach even further heights by organising a mix of chill social events for hanging out with like-minded individuals interested in physics, functions where you can learn more about potential career pathways such as last year's visit to the JET decommissioned fusion reactor, and opportunities to further both your understanding of physics and your connections within the field by chatting about physics with peers you may not have met before.

I believe that that a success of a society lies not only in it's ability to spark interests and connections that last within the walls of this university, but also to provide stepping stones to careers and friendships that will outlast your time here many times over.
