I am a fresher this year involved in the small show this term. I am incredibly passionate about musical theatre and want to be involved in it at UCL as much as possible. The community of MTSoc that is already here is so incredible and I can’t wait to be more immersed in it. As freshers rep I will insure that other freshers are just as involved in this community and have as many opportunities as other years.
Hi I am Ashley Hou, a year 1 Nutrition and Medical Sciences student. If I am elected as the Fresher's representative, I will undoubtedly speak for all freshers and ensure that everyone's voices will be heard.
A group chat for all freshers will be my approach in order to accomplish that. I hope this chat will be a safe space for everyone, so people can feel comfortable to ask any questions they may have about the society, events, or anything in general! Additionally, I will be posting a Google form in the group so that anyone with concerns may use it to voice them in an anonymous manner. Also, this form can be used to anonymously suggest ideas for any socials or events that anyone might wish to do.
So you may ask why should I vote for you? You should vote for me because I have extensive experience as a leader and organising events. For example, in year 12, I was the managing director of a student company, and I was also the vice-chairlady of my previous school's dance team. These experiences helped me strengthen my leadership skills and obtain a better understanding of how to manage things in a much more organised way.
So 🎶Please please please🎶 do vote for me as the fresher's representative and I will ensure that everyone will have their best time while being in the Musical Theatre Society!😻
Hi, I’m Ruby! I’m running because I love mt :)
I’ve been performing since I was 5 and I’m currently in Shrek the musical (get tickets!!🤭🤭), I also did the freshers musical back in September. My favourite musical is probably Les Mis (because I loved performing it earlier this year) or Legally Blonde (I study Law and I have a Chihuahua😭). My favourite role I’ve played is definitely Éponine because all her vocal parts are SO GOOD and SO fun to sing.
I’m also running because as a fresher, I definitely want to get to know more people in the society!!
I want to promote a kind and supportive atmosphere, and I believe that comes from clear and approachable communication. I would like to be in a position where people don't have to worry as they approach me to discuss their problems and are able to be truthful with me and I am then able to make action to ensure that they are supported.
To be Freshers representative would be an opportunity for me to reach out to more people and to hear their views and beliefs, and for me to remind myself to stay open-minded and listening.
I am standing because I am willing to represent members in my society. I am experienced because I was student rep in primary school and middle school and I was in student union in middle school so I know how to communicate with my peers and other officers in the student union. Also I am an international student myself so I can understand international students better and offer them better support. If I am elected, I would do my best to listen to all of your needs and I promise I would convey exactly what you need to relevant department. Also, I am a big fan of musical theatre and I would hold as many interesting musical theatre events as possible and get every member in the society involved in the events. Also, I would try to get everyone who are interested in stage performing a chance to perform. If you vote for me, I would be very grateful and I hope that we can work together to make our society the best society in UCL!
