Hi everyone! My name is Lianne, a second-year Biomedical Sciences student who loves to crochet – especially making amigurumi animals. My favourite project so far is an otter holding a little fish! I’ve been a KnitSoc member since last year and have loved the warm, welcoming environment at every session. As your Welfare Officer, I’m excited to keep that sense of community strong.
If elected, I hope to introduce new strategies to support everyone’s wellbeing. While the ongoing Snack and Stitch Socials are a great way to relax together, I’d love to add dedicated welfare check-ins for those who may want a more private space to share what’s on their mind. And don’t worry—snacks will still be a staple! I’m also excited to team up with the Events Officer to organise knit and crochet picnics, where we can all enjoy some fresh air, connect with nature, and work on our projects. I hope this will offer everyone a refreshing break from the stresses of school and give us a chance to recharge.
I also believe my past experiences make me a great fit for this role. As Programme Director of a school camp and Vice President of my high school’s student council, I developed strong event-organising and teamwork skills. I’m ready to bring these skills to KnitSoc and offer advice whenever it’s needed.
Ultimately, my goal as Welfare Officer is to look out for members while enjoying our knitting and crocheting sessions. Vote for me and we’ll make KnitSoc a supportive space for everyone :)
