May Bredahl

Heya everyone! May here :) though it’s only my first term in jazz society and jazz choir, I’m already having an incredible time. I’d love to step up as jazz choir manager so I can give back to the amazing community we have here in jazz society!

Choir’s always been a huge part of my life - from soul choir and chamber choirs to vocal ensembles and the national youth choir - but this jazz choir has quickly become my absolute favorite. Though I’m new to jazz, I’ve fallen head over heels for it, and I’m so excited to help shape the future of our choir together.

I also have experience in running choirs -  I founded and led the first ever choir at my sixth form, which admittedly had a rocky first debut year (😬) but turned around in the second and is still running strong today! I’d like to think this experience has prepared me well for handling any challenges that might come up in the role of choir manager.

As a manager, I’d prioritise inclusivity to make sure everyone feels welcome. I’d organise plenty of socials so we can bond beyond rehearsals, and I promise I’ll bring my impeccable taste in music to help us pick songs that everyone will enjoy singing. I’m also someone who thrives on staying organised so I’m ready to keep us on track with rehearsals, events, and all things choir-related.

I hope most of you in choir know or recognise me by now, but if not, feel free to say hi if you see me around campus or choir - I promise I don’t bite :) Vote for May!

Choir is a wonderful place and I would love to contribute to this lovely environment! Apart from organising more socials, I would also like the idea that when we are not preparing for a specific show, everyone can have a say in choosing the songs we that we will be working on together.

Hiya, I'm Aisha (first year studying BA Comparative Literature). As a weekly participant of Jazz Choir, I love the spirit and sense of community each session brings! Having fun is key, so I'll make sure to bring energy to all rehearsals/events, for example, by including fun warm ups/cool downs, and organising community-building socials (walks, coffee, jazz, drinks, and the like!).

Although I have no experience with having a more senior role in a society/club, I'm adamant to put in the effort to ensure all rehearsals and performances are both enjoyable and of the best standard we can muster!

It feels so enriching to be part of a wealth of such talented musicians, so I would be grateful if you voted for me! Thank you for taking the time to read my little spiel, and have a lovely day : )

Given my extensive experience with choir and leadership positions dealing with administration, I feel I can bring a great deal of efficiency and knowledge to the role. From membership in prior choirs to running societies, I've developed a hands-on understanding of how best to fulfill management duties in an artistic space such as this, and would look forward to working closely with individual members of the choir to best maintain everyone's enjoyment and capacity to improve. Whether it's booking rooms, liaising with other Jazz society leaders, helping identify what music the choir wants, or anything in between, I am more than comfortable taking on all aspects of the choir manager's duties.
