Geographical Society: First-Year Representative

I am keen to represent first-year GeogSoc members and help them settle in! I know how daunting it can be in the beginning and I am eager to lend my time to advocating for others. 

I have previous experience as a Senior Prefect and School Councillor and have enjoyed working with staff and other students to resolve issues and plan social and academic events. I am friendly, approachable, and proactive, and I hope to be one of your First Year Representatives!

I would like to stand for GeogSoc 1st year rep as I believe I am an approachable and friendly person who works well in a team and loves speaking to everyone which is essential with such a big cohort in the department.

I would ensure that advocating for the wants and needs of my classmates are my top priority whether that be queries about academic issues or social events. I have experience doing this in my previous school, as a member of the EDI committee I helped introduce more events at the beginning of year 12 to encourage integration with the new and old students. I also have experience planning events such as my school's 6th form Michaelmas Ball, School wide Alternative lunch event with performances and an ice cream van, Christmas fair and more.

One thing I think would be useful to introduce is a short review guide of the modules with ratings, type of assessment etc. to help incoming students have an idea of what to pick.
