Hello everyone, I’m Zainab, a fourth year medical student, and I’d love to be your Events and Fundraising Officer for this year. I joined UCL Friends of MSF last year and thoroughly enjoyed attending the events and learning more about the organisation.
The work that MSF does globally is so important, and heavily dependent on charitable donations in order to maintain neutrality and access to areas of conflict and political instability. Therefore I am really passionate about fundraising for MSF through Friends of MSF UCL events, both internally and in collaboration with other universities. As a flagship event, I would love to organise a Charity Gala with the other Friends of MSF societies to raise money to support the lifesaving care and treatment that MSF provides. Additionally, I look forward to running regular fundraising events throughout the year, such as bake sales, fun runs and charity quizzes.
I have extensive experience in organising both university-level and national events, including a recent national Pathology Conference with over 100 attendees, and two years on the RUMS events committee. I am excited to put my skills and dedication to good use to contribute to the meaningful work that MSF carries out.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my candidacy- your vote would mean a lot.
Being an organiser in my personal life, I would say that I am good at planning events, gathering people, and creating a nice atmosphere most of the time. With this experience, I hope to be a good event organiser.
I have volunteered at UCL—Zero Food Waste for one year and been a member of the LEO club, which is a non-profit organisation, in Turkey for the past 3 years. I studied in a French high school for 5 years, so I am confident with my French (with a certificate in C1 level), if needed.
I believe that leadership skills would be required for managing this role. Thus, I would like to list some of my experience. I have been coaching for teenagers for a month each summer for the past 3 years. This role includes designing games and activities in order to foster good relationships between campers and the camper-coach. Also, these aim to improve their social skills while engaging them in the camp.
I am also familiar with the content as my dad is a doctor, and I have been making more than 4 internships so far with him, observing his rotations in the hospital. The main purpose of society, I think, is very likely to initiate considerable impact on society and people, as health is the most important aspect of life. The idea of having even a minimal impact on conveying medical help to who is in need can save lives.
Hi everyone, I’m Foram, and I’m running for Fundraising and Events Officer for the Friends of Médecins sans Frontières Society. I’m passionate about helping MSF’s mission to bring medical care to people who need it most. I would love the opportunity to contribute to this society’s efforts to help make a positive impact and raise awareness about the vital work MSF doing.
As a medical student, one of the core values which has been drilled into us is putting the patient first. Since our 3rd year syllabus allows more time for extracurriculars, I wanted to get involved with Friends of MSF, which would allow me to positively impact patients around the world. This is why I would absolutely love to be the Events and Fundraising Officer for this society.
I have a few creative ideas for the role, which I would absolutely love to try out if I got the job. One idea, inspired from my time at AIESEC, would be to host collaborative events with the Friends of MSF societies from other universities. Together, we could make a bigger impact and also meet like-minded individuals at the same time, making it a fantastic way to network as well. Some other cool fundraising ideas I would also love to try out would be doughnut/cake sales, raffles and perhaps even some games nights, to just add an injection of fun.
To conclude, MSF aligns quite nicely with my own personal and career ambitions, and I would therefore love to take on a position of leadership within this society.
