Hello Gents,
My name is Conor and I've been fortunate enough to have Red Star be a part of my uni experience for the last few years. The club means the world to me, from the camaraderie of away days to Chislehurst (and the kebab shop in the train station afterwards), to the core morals of the promotion of accessibility to sport and mental health support, through to the individual relationships I've formed as a member.
I've turned up to the pitch on days we've played with nine players, on days which would have been better spent recovering in bed, and on days where the hallowed marshes of Hackney felt more like the London Aquatics Centre (a great time for an immaculate slide challenge). Yes, this may be partially for the draw of a certain unnamed establishment on Homerton High Street (and another in Hayes), but it's also an acknowledgement of the value the club has to me, now as ever.
We have some really exciting projects ongoing and upcoming, so I would appreciate the opportunity to finally engage with the challenges of running a club with such numbers and such varied needs as the Star in an official capacity. Red Star is, I've told many of you, the reason I'm still at UCL, and if I can, in this position, help the club to have a fraction of that same impact on even one of you, then all the time it takes will have been time well spent.
Besides, you need somebody to steady the ship when Krishan goes off his feet in the box (again).
Cheers boys, and UTFRS
