As Head of Events you are responsible for planning, organising and executing events relevant to the core themes of the society. These could be, for example, hosting speakers on a certain topic, visiting an embassy or organisation, or planning an educational social event.

Candidates

Yoyo Yip

I am standing for the role of Head of Events because I am passionate about creating valuable opportunities and events for the EISPS community, as well as helping to foster a closer bond within our department. Having been able to work with the EISPS society thus far, I have had the chance to connect with more society members, classmates, and also organise some really exciting and engaging events. Moreover, as a current Student Ambassador and Transition Mentor, I’m confident I have the skills and experience to keep contributing meaningfully to the EISPS community.

These roles have helped me develop strong organisational and communication skills, as well as a real understanding of what makes events impactful and inclusive. I believe that events should not only be enjoyable but should also offer chances for students to connect, learn, and explore diverse perspectives. If elected as Head of Events, I would love to bring fresh ideas to the society, building on past successes and exploring new types of events that cater to our academic interests and cultural diversity. I’m committed to making our society a welcoming space where everyone feels excited to participate and proud to be part of EISPS.

Thank you for considering me for this role, and I’m excited for the chance to keep building an even better community with all of you!

Leonore Leroy

Hi everyone! My name is Léonore Leroy and I am an International, Social and Political Studies student in second year.

I have been unofficially organising events such as the Argentinian, German and Swiss embassy visits and a career panel event with Asiatic Affairs society. I’d love to keep organising events for our society and bring you even more exciting, relevant experiences in diverse fields.

If elected, I’ll keep working to bring in great speakers, fun socials, and valuable networking moments. I’d love your support to make that happen!

Julia Anting Wolff

Hi! I’m Julia and I’m a fourth-year ISPS student doing Mandarin, IR and Elements of Economics, and I am running for Head of Events.

I’m a very proactive person and am both willing and able to put ideas into motion, which are critical traits for a successful Head of Events. In my second year, I organized social events for the EISPS society as Outreach Executive and speaker events from the UCL United Nations Association as Events Officer, experiences which will surely help me in this role.

Alongside continuing the amazing work that our society has already been doing, I would like to start a series of virtual events, working with EISPS students on their years abroad to organize collaborative events. This serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it allows third-year EISPS students (and other UCL students on exchange) to feel connected with the society despite not being physically in London and secondly gives us access to the knowledge and expertise of speakers from other countries.

Imagine an event on Cross-straight relations co-hosted by the EISPS society and the National University of Taipei, for example.

The second focus of my platform is social events. I’ve noticed how daunting it can feel to return from a year abroad, so social events with the EISPS society can serve as a great way to meet new people within and outside the department!

I would love the chance to use my previous experiences and motivation to organize exciting events for the EISPS society and expand our existing program!
