Jiwan Choi

Hello! I am Jiwan Choi, a second year Chemical Engineering student from Korea running for the position of your next External Affairs and Sponsorship Officer.

As an aspiring Chemical Engineer, I have completed numerous STEM-centred competitions. All of these contribute towards my enthusiasm for building towards a sustainable energy industry and protecting our environment.

But here's the catch - to achieve goals we have set, such as net zero, we must bring the issue into the spotlight, generating discussions on the topic with the industry and holding more energy-related events. This can be realised with sponsorships and therefore I believe that building connections with companies is vital to create the change we wish to see!

As a candidate for the role, I am equipped with interpersonal and communication skills, frequently engaging in industry talks and networking, such as Engineering Careers Fair or CBRE graduate insight talk, in addition to attending various industry talks. With a particular interest in careers in the energy industry, I have also already began contacting companies to get opportunities in the industry.

With such experience, as well as good organisation skills, I will dedicate my efforts into forging relationships with companies and getting sponsorships. With your vote, as your next External Affairs and Sponsorship Officer, I hope to expand UCL Energy Society's network:)
