Alice Duan

I am excited to put myself forward as a candidate for Second year representative. With a passion for communication, collaboration, and cultural understanding, I believe my skills and experience align with the core values and responsibilities of this position. I am fluent in both English and Chinese, with the added capability to read and listen to Japanese, and have acted as the translator for a British-Chinese MoGao cave art conference held in the Atheneum Club. My proficiency in language allows me to understand different cultural perspectives, and break down communication barriers, which I think is crucial for my role as someone that connects other students with core decisions of the society, reflect their need in order to accommodate our society for a wider range of potential members. I will also be able to prioritise responsibilities, meet deadlines, and contribute consistently to ongoing projects and initiatives in our society given my relatively flexible academic schedules.

Betty Griffiths

I believe I would be an excellent candidate for the Second-Year Representative role, as I am not only deeply passionate about disaster risk reduction and community resilience but also eager to contribute my knowledge, leadership skills, and enthusiasm for proactive initiatives. I am committed to building further engagement among my peers and bridging connections across year groups to build an even stronger DRRH community. If elected, I would bring a confident, social approach to help ensure our society remains an inclusive, enjoyable space that makes a meaningful impact at UCL and beyond.
