  • I like the society, what it stands for and where it is heading
  • It's the society I had my eyes on before arriving at UCL
  • I have been to almost all of DRRH's events (a committed member!) and have contributed to a really well organised event (the innovation evening)
  • I believe I come with valuable insight and perspectives from the global South
  • I am currently doing an MSc in Risk, Disaster and Resilience at UCL RDR with a cohort of ~80/90 colleagues.
  • Being a bit older (26) and having made strong connections with my masters cohort, I feel I can add a valuable role in influencing and spreading the DRRH gospel
  • Most of all:
    • this society has really great potential
    • being embedded in a relatively new department and amongst the ethos of multidisciplinarity, the options for creativity and organising topical events that cover swathes of disciplines excites me!
    • and again: I believe I can bring and connect people from the masters level which will enrich the events and society

Bushra Choudhury

Hi! I’m Bushra :)

I’m an MRes Translational Neuroscience student, and I’m currently working on gene therapy for drug-resistant epilepsies. I’m also very interested in policy work, particularly initiatives to foster community and support marginalised groups, as well as nature conservation and sustainability! I’m super excited to run for Postgrad Rep and signpost my fellow grads at Queen Square to the innovative work our society is doing!

Deepthi Narasimhan

Postgraduate students are at the cusp of translating learning to impact. As one myself, I believe that the best way to accelerate this process is through the launchpads of societies like DRRH. For those of us who are passionate about making a difference, be it through our research, work, or activities, I will ensure that our voices are heard. I'd make a forum wherein we can exchange ideas, as well as take feedback periodically. I will liaise with other committee members to make sure we have the best possible time - with both fun and growth, and will push for all necessary changes on our behalf. Do get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions!
