Election post
Hi, Diplomacy Society!
I'm Alessandra Jia Pan—some might call me Alessandra, though most people simply know me as Jia (I have yet to settle on how I should introduce myself!)—and I am a First Year PIR Student, member of the Design Team for The Diplomacy Review.
I am running for Head of Events because I believe I am an energetic and hard-working individual who has what it takes to fulfil this role adequately. I bring relevant experience to my candidacy:
- I have been the main point of reference in AFS for exchange students in Sicily, managing host family allocations, conducting family visits and interviews;
- I organised welcome events for local and foreign students and aided their integration by ensuring translations from French, Chinese, and English into Italian;
- I hosted workshops that combated discrimination against ethnic minorities in Sicily;
- I worked with Partito Democratico during the European Elections by opening Senator Antonio Nicita's campaign with speeches representing the student community on issues such as lack of funds in Southern Italy, water scarcity, and immigration policies.
Most importantly, I am very passionate about connecting with people, whether it is with guest speakers or the very members of our society. I thrive in social settings and value listening to different perspectives, as I believe collaboration and feedback are essential in organising engaging and memorable events!
If you entrust me with this role, I will be sure to live up to your expectations!
