Heya, I’m Nano, I grew up mainly dancing ballet and Georgian traditional dance! I started my Dance Soc journey with contemporary, but now I like to dabble in a bit of everything. Last year I was studying abroad in Paris, excited to be back! As Liaison Officer, I aim to organise workshops on niche styles such as Heels, Waacking, Vogue and even traditional folk dances! Having choreographed a Georgian traditional dance piece for Blooms’23, as well as running my own dance workshops, I have built up experience in the planning, production and practical side of all things dance. Choreographing also helped develop my adaptability and communication skills, as I learned how to get my ideas across more clearly by putting myself in the dancers shoes and seeing how the choreography could look to them. My experience doing niche styles in both Dance Soc and Paris (Samba, Vogue, Georgian dance and Waacking to name a few) has brought me into contact with many dancers and teachers and their variety of perspectives , all of which I can bring together for future workshops. Another goal I have is to organise collaborative workshops with other UCL societies, which would contribute to a stronger sense of community. It can be a chill and creative way of doing dance and also foster friendships between societies. One example: a photoshoot workshop with PhotoSoc…stay tuned this Sunday for more ;) Thank you for reading and I hope to have proven why I should be your next Liaison Officer :)
Hello everyone! I’m Sky, a third-year Biomedical Sciences student hoping to be your Liaison Officer. I started dancing through battling, and being in UCL Dance Society enlightened me. Therefore, I would love to give back to this amazing community by fostering a more collaborative environment.
By joining masterclasses across different countries, I have met and exchanged ideas with many industry professionals specialising in different styles such as House, Waacking, Popping, Vogue, Heels, and more. I have also led workshops in and outside of UCL dance society, and I have served as a runner for TranscenDance last year. Furthermore, I have also battled in RedBull Dance Your Style twice and Nike Own the Floor, giving me insight into how things operate within and outside of UCL.
Last year, I also worked as a student warden in private accommodation. Therefore, I am no stranger to working with invoices and sending out emails under tight deadlines.
As Liaison Officer, my aims are to:
- Organise workshops with professionals who bring diverse styles and skills
- Maintain a professional relationship with teachers
- Create a feedback system to ensure that class attendees can have their say and share their thoughts
- Collaborate with students to lead their own workshops where they could share their experience and techniques
- Bridge the gap between members of dance soc and the external dance scene
- Produce an amazing class showcase!!
Your voice matters, so please vote for me as your next liaison officer💙
Hey Dance Society! I’m Hebe, a year 2 student, and I’m so excited to be running for Liaison Officer! A bit about me, I’m very passionate in dancing, I’ve been doing Chinese dance for 14 years now and have picked up Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Hiphop on the way. Although I’m new to the society because I’ve only just recently found out about dance society, I’ve built a strong network of talented dance teachers across styles from Pineapple, Base, and Chinese studios, which I’d love to share with you all. Here’s why I’d be a great fit for this role:
First, I’m organized and reliable. I pay close attention to details, especially with logistics. I’d ensure teacher invoices are managed and paid on time so our guests feel respected and eager to return.
I’m also passionate about expanding horizons! Dance has introduced me to incredible people and techniques, and I’m thrilled to bring fresh perspectives to our society, particularly through Asian dance styles. I know teachers ready to help us broaden our skills.
In addition, I want to foster a collaborative community. I believe in learning from one another, and I’d love to organize student-led workshops in Term 3. These would let members lead, share unique styles, and deepen our team bond. I’d also be more than happy to participate in and assist with our annual productions.
I’m passionate, driven, and ready to help make this year exciting and enriching. Thanks for considering me for Liaison Officer—let’s make it unforgettable together!
I'm excited to run for Liaison Officer because I’m passionate about dance and want to help keep our society organised and connected. Working as the assistant director for this year’s Bloomsbury Show has given me a valuable opportunity to strengthen my organisation and time management skills, as well as gain experience in coordinating a large production. As a student rep, I’ve also become more at ease with contacting people, managing emails, and keeping everyone in the loop—skills that will help me handle the communication side of this role. Dance has been a big part of my life since I started Chinese classical dance at age five, and being in our dance society gave me a great opportunity to explore other styles. I’d love the chance to be the Liaison Officer and help make this year amazing for everyone involved!
I am excited to stand for liaison officer because I am passionate about creating an enriching and diverse experience for everyone involved. Having done similar roles in previous societies has given me a strong foundation in organising and managing events from start to finish.
From managing major events such as welcome socials and academic talks to navigating last-minute issues, I understand the importance of clear communication, attention to detail, and staying calm under pressure, especially when things don’t go as planned (which tends to happen quite a bit 😅).
I may not be the top dancer, but I am great at bringing the top dancers to you! Get ready for workshops with the best talent around - I'll make sure of it 🕺
