Hi! I’m Bushra :)
I’m an MRes Translational Neuroscience student, and I’m currently working on gene therapy for drug-resistant epilepsies. I’m also very interested in policy work, particularly initiatives to foster community and support marginalised groups, as well as nature conservation and sustainability! I’m super excited to run for VP and support our lovely President as I feel (bio)ethics are a cornerstone for our humanity, and we have a responsibility towards creating a better world. As technology becomes more innovative, we need to keep in sight our ethical boundaries and continuously weigh the benefits and costs of development.
I have a ton of ideas for exciting events encompassing the broad range of ethical themes present in the STEM field (as well as how these have a follow-on effect on external industries and individuals, as everything is so interconnected!) I’m also eager to hear from society members about their interests in bioethics and what topics and events they’d like us to hold. I’m looking forward to integrating feedback and making events more engaging, dynamic, and interactive!
