I am applying for Welfare Officer because I am passionate about organising resources and uniting ideas to create unique ways to enhance student well-being. Being a people person with an analytical mindset, I thrive on hearing novel ideas while providing constructive feedback or amalgamating them (e.g. in group projects) for innovation, which is invaluable in handling student initiatives and hearing student voices for inclusivity within our society. Such interpersonal skills will also enable me to establish symbiotic relationships with other societies as I aim to push for cross-collaboration in campaigns to get our name out there. However, I believe my biggest asset is my diverse academic background in management, law, and psychology, having taken a gap year to take university-level courses in these fields. My legal writing courses have equipped me with persuasive writing skills for crafting compelling arguments for funding applications. Being a welfare officer, I am excited to utilise my well-roundedness and diversified knowledge to formulate creative initiatives and events, such as a behavioural economics game night and a paint and sip, and assist with other tasks outside my role. All in all, I hope to bring positivity yet productivity and creativity to the committee by helping out both within and outside of my role duties wherever I can and at the best of my abilities, even with tasks people may not want to handle!
