Anatomy Society: Events Officer

Hi everyone! I’m Miko (Xingmeizi) Chen, a third-year Biomed student, and I’m thrilled to nominate myself for the position of Events Officer in the Anatomy Society. Having enjoyed past events, especially Halloween Jeopardy Night, I know how much these gatherings add to our learning experience and community. As Events Officer, it would be my absolute pleasure to bring more exciting and interactive events to our society!

Why Events Officer?
I want to take on this role because I see the power of well-crafted events to make anatomy not only educational but also fun and memorable. I’d love to expand on successful past events while introducing new ideas that keep things fresh and engaging. Whether it’s themed trivia nights, guest lectures, or hands-on workshops, I’m committed to making each event something our members genuinely look forward to.

Why Me?
I’m highly organized and detail-oriented, ensuring that each event runs smoothly from start to finish. My love for collaboration and creativity will help me design events that cater to diverse interests and learning styles.

Ideas (few of many):

Anatomy Movie & Discussion Night:
Host screenings of anatomy-related films/dramas, followed by discussions, giving members a unique blend of entertainment and education.

Case Study & Diagnosis Workshop:
Present members with real/fictional clinical cases, providing symptoms and test results, and challenge them to diagnose and propose treatments.

Having heard about the dedication and planning that is going into the events with Anatomy Society this year, I am interested to help the team further their plans to grow the society. The art x anatomy events and exhibition especially stood out to me as it integrates academics with creativity, allowing for a mix of people to meet to talk about their various interests. The inclusive and collaborative nature of this society also drew me to this position. Having had experience with organising socials for a university society, I feel I can apply my skills and ideas to anatomy society to help engage people. I want to support the society as a friendly face that communicates well and works hard!
 

I’m excited to be running for Events Officer – I’ve loved every moment of working in this role since September. I was fortunate to be offered this position by the President, and from day one, I’ve felt passionate about creating engaging, enjoyable experiences for our society. Through a strong sense of teamwork, I’ve helped organize and host events, including two Welcome Exhibition trips, the Anatomy Quiz, and Anatomy Jeopardy. I also hosted two tutorials and advocated for adding a drawing element to the Museum trips. At the RUMS Welcome Fair, I had the privilege of sharing our society’s potential with new members and making promises—like the Anatomy Museum drawing event—that I was thrilled to fulfill.

The feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing my belief in the power of events to build community. I’ve committed myself fully to these activities because I know how important they are in enriching our student experience. Seeing how few events the Anatomy Society held last year, I’m even more determined to ensure we never fall short of creating opportunities for members to connect, learn, and have fun.

I’ve truly enjoyed being part of the Events team and am eager to continue this work with even more creativity and energy. If elected, I’ll continue to organise diverse, exciting events to strengthen our society, foster community, and build on our momentum. I’d be honoured to have your support as Events Officer.
