Boat Club Constitution Amendment Referendum - March 2025

Summary of proposed changes

1. Restructuring of the constitution document to make it more coherent, with fewer subtitles and greater clarity over responsibilities.
2. Crucial changes made to reflect the reality of each role's responsibilities in day-to-day practice.
3. Streamlining of captains' responsibilities, to remove outdated references to SU policies, and add in recent updates.
4. Removal of intermediate captains, as this is outdated. We no longer, and have not for some time, had an intermediate squad.
5. Renaming - Media & External Comms -> Press Sec, and Fundraising and Alumni Relations -> Fundraising & Alumni Officer
6. Due to the launch of JEMF, amendments have been made to the positions of President, Treasurer, Vice President, Fundraising & Alumni Officer, and Inclusivity & Outreach Officer.
7. Additions to the Inclusivity and Outreach Officer's role.
8. Streamlining of Terms, Aims and Objectives, as well as core activity to better reflect the aims and priorities of the club in recent years.
9. Removal of 'responsibilities of club members' in favour of greater personal responsibility to engage with and support the club's activities. These responsibilities still hold unless otherwise stated.
