Afghan Society: Treasurer

I am standing to be Treasurer once again for the Afghan Society this term because my experiences in this role have been incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. Throughout my time, I have had the privilege of engaging with many wonderful individuals and learning about the richness of Afghan culture, which has deepened my appreciation for the Afghan community. I am passionate about promoting the beauty of Afghan traditions and values, and I believe it’s essential to bring more awareness to the importance of diversity, especially as a non-Afghan. I want to continue fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of their background. By organizing events that highlights the Afghan culture, while also celebrating the diverse perspectives within our society, I aim to create a space that encourages dialogue, understanding, and connection.  I aspire to continue to commit to maintaining transparency and accountability in our financial management. I will actively seek new fundraising opportunities fo ensure we have the resources needed to host a variety of exciting events throughout the year.  Together, we can make our society a vibrant hub of cultural exchange and mutual respect, ensuring that the Afghan heritage is not only preserved but also shared with a wider audience. I am excited about the possibility of continuing this journey and making a positive impact within the community.

My name is Frozan and I am currently a first year and have been a member of the UCL Afghan society since the start of the year and I have really enjoyed all the events so far and the amazing community that I’ve found here at UCL. Therefore, I have decided to stand for role as the treasurer. I have loved the experience of being around others who share the same culture as me and can connect to in that way, really making myself feel at home. I am passionate about supporting and enriching our community while ensuring the society runs efficiently. 

I believe that financial management is at the heart of any successful organisation, and I am eager to bring my organisation skills, attention to detail and commitment to this role. I aim to manage the society’s funds responsibly, allocate resources effectively and find creative ways alongside my peers to ensure that our society can host meaningful fun events. Being a part of the committee will help me get closer to my afghan heritage and help with sharing the beauty of Afghan culture with everybody including non-afghans and ensuring that this society is a diverse and safe place in which everyone feels comfortable in. I would really appreciate your vote and I hope we can have an amazing rest of the year together!

My organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to society’s vision make me confident in my ability to serve in this role.
