The Afghan Society is an amazing place to be. Its open to all to experience the unparalleled beauty of Afghan heritage and culture. Like many cultural societies, its a place to have fun, discover like people, and to make lasting bonds. Yet, a society can and should be more. My pledges will maintain the fun, laid-back, and well ran atmosphere of the society but also enhance its functions and impact.  I will add career prospects and charitable causes at the very top of the societies priorities. As such, my pledges are clear.

I am standing because I truly believe in the potential of our society to make a lasting, positive impact for all its members and those associated. Having served as President for Term 1, I’ve seen firsthand how our group chat, events, and collaborative spirit have brought people together to celebrate Afghan culture and form meaningful connections. My experience as the current President is my greatest asset in seeking re-election. Over the past term, I’ve already demonstrated my ability to successfully organise and host events, and oversee the operations involved in the society. This hands-on experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of how the society functions, from budgeting and fundraising to event planning and committee coordination. Additionally, I am on the committee for our associate charity organisation - Afghan Charity Week - which is invaluable for furthering our charitable initiatives. Because I’m already familiar with every aspect of running the society, I can seamlessly continue the work I’ve started, ensuring that our momentum and progress carry forward into the next term.

I want to build on these successes by continuing to create safe, welcoming spaces where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns. Ultimately, my goal is to keep the society growing and thriving, and to represent our collective voice in a way that benefits all involved in the society.
