Idea for research
Idea for research
African Community School provides inclusive services to local adults, children and families living on low incomes, supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve and develop new skills in the community. They are interested in working with a dedicated research student to situate their work in the broader sector and explore key themes around fundraising and impact.

This research could explore two different topics depending on student interest.

1. Why do grassroots Global Majority organisations struggle to access council funding?

2. Evaluation of African Community School’s impact as a case study in a broader piece of research on community education. As a practical element to support ACS’ work, this would involve designing an evaluation model that is culturally specific and captures qualitative as well as quantitative outcomes.

The organisation is open to students' ideas about how to integrate either of these themes into their dissertation, and welcomes students from all disciplines.
Impact of idea
In the long term, this research would contribute to African Community School’s evaluation, impact and fundraising work, enabling them to provide their vital services to more in the community.
