This training is part of the Student-Led Volunteering Programme run by the Volunteering Service. It is for volunteers involved in one of our Student-Led Projects that run activities for children or young people. All Project Leaders and volunteers involved in any of our projects that work with children and/or young people must complete this course before they undertake any volunteering activity. This applies to both in-person and remote volunteering projects.
The training is split into 5 sections. Please note that the links, on the slides, do not work in full screen (presentation) mode. Also, when accessing links within the presentation slides, you will need to press back to return to the course.
At the end of each section you will be required to answer some questions. You will not be able to move onto the next section of the training, until you have answers all of these questions correctly. Please note the following:-
- If you have to retake a section of the course, when asked whether to “Keep answers from last attempt?” choose Only Correct Answers. This means that the answers you have chosen correctly in your previous attempts will be pre-populated (they will be filled in).
- For questions where you can select more than one option, if your feedback shows that you did not achieve full marks, even though all of your answers were correct, this means that you need to select additional options in order to answer the question fully.
To access this course, you need to select Take Course in the menu on the left hand side of this page. You will then be directed to a page that lists the 5 sections of the course. Click on the section of the course that you want to complete. Please note that you will need to complete the sections in order. Once you click on the section of the course that you want to complete, you will be directed to a page which provides information about the number of questions in the section and the number of attempts you have. At the bottom of this page select Start Quiz to access the presentation slides which will be followed by questions at the end of each section. You do not need to complete all sections of the course at once and can save your progress while you work through each section of the course.
You are not permitted to start any volunteering activity, with any of our Student-Led Projects working with children or young people, until you have successfully completed all sections of this training.
If you have any questions please contact the Student-Led Projects Team at [email protected].
