📣 Welcome to the Global Remembrance Society!
We are the first UCL society dedicated to the duty of remembrance, which we hope to cultivate through discussions, visits, conferences, movie and documentary screenings as well as testimonies.
What does it mean to remember? And how can the stories of the past continue to matter to us today?
The Global Remembrance Society (GRS) is a space for students to come together, discover different histories, share perspectives, and reflect on the events that have shaped our world. We believe remembrance is not only about looking back, but also about understanding how the past continues to influence the people and societies around us.
Throughout the year, we will organise talks and conferences, discussions, film and documentary screenings, visits to memorials and places of remembrance, and opportunities to hear personal testimonies. Our events will explore different historical experiences and encourage open conversations across cultures and generations.
We will also be launching our GRS newsletter, where we’ll share stories, historical insights, recommendations, and updates about upcoming events, giving you another way to engage with remembrance beyond our activities on campus. 📰
You don't need to study history or have any prior knowledge to join us. Whether you want to learn something new, meet people with different perspectives, or simply take part in meaningful conversations, everyone is welcome at GRS.
