This advice applies to the 2024/25 academic year.
Results day is coming up on Tuesday 8 July 2025. We know this can be a stressful time so we’ve put together some useful information about what happens next.
You should receive your marks to your UCL email address on Tuesday 8 July 2025 and be able to view them on Portico from Wednesday 9 July 2025. Due to the large volume of results being sent out, you may get yours at a different time to others on your programme etc. so please don't worry!
If you are an Undergraduate, you'll be emailed results and awards, or progression information if you're continuing your studies.
If you are a Postgraduate , provisional Term 1 or Term 2 completed module results will be emailed and available on Portico. These haven't been confirmed and your award won't be available.
Different programmes use different rules to calculate your final classification. You can find the standard regulations in the Academic Manual (Section 10 Classification).
If you have failed or deferred any assessments, you will be notified of this in your results email.
The LSA examination period assesses students that have deferred or need to resit one or more of their assessments. This year, the LSA exam period will take place from 18 August to 5 September 2025.
If you are taking centrally managed exams in the LSA period, you will receive your exam timetable by email on Thursday 24 July 2025.
If you are submitting coursework or sitting departmentally managed assessments in the LSA period, your department will let you know how and when you need to do this.
If you are unhappy with your results, or would just like some general feedback, you may want to contact your department or personal tutor to arrange a time to discuss this. You can do this even if your results are provisional

If you have think that UCL’s academic regulations and related procedures were not followed correctly in the marking of your exam, you may want to consider submitting an academic appeal. However, please note that it is not possible to submit an appeal on the basis of academic judgement. This means that appeals will not be considered on the grounds that the examiners’ assessment was incorrect. This is because all assessments will already have undergone a rigorous marking and moderating process.
You can also submit an academic appeal if there were circumstances which significantly affected your assessments, but you were unable to submit an Extenuating Circumstances claim at the time. Please note however that you will need to provide compelling reasons with supporting evidence to show why you were unable to notify your department of these circumstances during the period of your assessment.
You can appeal if you have received confirmation of your results via Portico and email. If you're a Postgraduate Taught student, you should also be able to appeal if any of your Term 1 and 2 results have been added to Portico, even though your award won't have been confirmed. This doesn't happen for all Postgraduate Taught programmes, in which case you'll need to wait until after the main exam boards in November to appeal.

Please note - due to the volume of appeals UCL receive at this time of year, you may not have an outcome before the Late Summer Assessments in August so any resolution may take longer to be implemented. If you are hoping for a successful appeal outcome to be able to progess to the next year or complete your programme, this may delay you.
If you are considering making a change to your studies, such as a repetition of the past year or taking a break altogether, UCL has provided some advice here.
If you have completed your degree, you will receive your certificate and a copy of your official transcript.
If you are an Undergraduate and attending your graduation ceremony, you will get these at the ceremony.
If you are not attending the ceremony, or are a Postgraduate, they will be sent to your home address. You should receive these documents within 3 months of results day. Your home address details must be up to date on Portico by Sunday 27 July 2025.
Finalists can also download a Statement of Award letter from Portico from Wednesday 9 July 2025, to show your degree has been awarded. You can also access and share a Digital Award Certificate from around two weeks after results.
