A new original production is debuting at the Bloomsbury Theatre in November 2026: UCL! The Musical

Two hundred years of history. One catastrophic mistake. Twenty-four hours to save UCL.

When student Connie accidentally signs away the future of UCL, she and long-suffering archivist Clive are thrust into a race against time. With the help of a fiercely determined historian, the pair must dive deep into the university’s past where two centuries of progressive thinkers are waiting to join them in a fight for the soul of the university.

Packed with show-stopping original songs, tap dancing Jeremy Benthams and a very special cast of characters, UCL! The Musical will take you on a glorious, irreverent journey into the heart of an extraordinary institution. Created and performed entirely by UCL students and recent alumni specially for UCL200, this is a once-in-200-years theatrical experience not to be missed.

Showing on:
Tuesday 24 November, 19:30
Wednesday 25 November, 19:30
Thursday 26 November, 19:30
Friday 27 November, 19:30

N.B. There will be a pre-show talk with the creators of the musical on Thursday 26 November at 17.15 (more details to follow).

Every single member of the cast and creative team of UCL! The Musical is either a current UCL student or alumni who graduated from UCL within the last 2 years.  This includes director, musical director, designer, choreographer, producer, performers and everything in between.

Part of Students' Union UCL's pioneering arts programme

A year in development, UCL! The Musical has included extensive research and story development, including new music written for the show. The musical is part of Students’ Union UCL’s arts programme, artsUCL, which enables students to produce, direct, and create within a professionally supported framework.

Students have focused on narrative structures, framing devices and musical styles as well as UCL stories, characters and history during their time developing the musical.  Holding creative R&D workshops with the student community, and extensive interviews with students, academics and professional staff to bring the story of UCL to the stage.
