What does it mean to be an international student at UCL?
Being part of UCL, a truly global university, has been an eye-opening experience. I’ve had the chance to meet people from all corners of the world, which has broadened my perspective and made me more aware of the diversity of cultures and traditions out there. It also means belonging to an environment where diversity is valued and celebrated. It’s a place where every student brings their own story.
UCL is more than just an academic institution; it’s a place where meaningful connections are made.
While I don’t regularly share my culture, there have been special moments where I’ve brought a bit of home to my friends, just as they’ve shared their own traditions with me. These interactions have not only strengthened friendships but have also taught me that the world is full of opportunities, and it’s up to us to make the most of them.
Tell us about your recipe in the cookbook...
Bolón de Verde with Chicharrón and Cheese is a dish that captures the heart of Ecuadorian cuisine. It’s comforting and full of flavour, connecting me to the traditions and culture of my home.
Every time I prepare it, I’m reminded of family moments where the green plantain, a staple in coastal Ecuadorian cooking, is transformed into something that nourishes both body and soul. Each bolón is a reflection of Ecuador’s culinary richness and the importance of sharing food as an act of togetherness and celebration.
What does it mean to you being able to contribute your recipe?
