Reclaim the narratives through the power of art...
Are you an artist with a story to tell? This Black History Month, we’re celebrating the power of art to challenge stereotypes, amplify untold stories, and reclaim narratives often overlooked. We’re calling on students to submit their work for a special Black History Month 2024 competition centered around the theme “Reclaiming Narratives.”
The deadline for submission is October 25th
Why this theme?
"Reclaiming Narratives" is all about giving voice to the stories, histories, and experiences that have been marginalised or misrepresented. Whether it’s through your personal journey, cultural history, or reflections on Black identity, we want to see how you express the power of reclaiming and reshaping the narrative.
Who can submit?
This is open to all students! We welcome submissions across all artistic mediums, including:
- Painting
- Photography
- Digital art
- Sculpture
- Mixed media
No matter your style or experience level, if your work speaks to the theme of reclaiming Black identity, heritage, and culture, we want to hear from you.
This is what you submitted in the past...
What’s in it for you?
Your submission will enter into a competition which will be judged by People of Colour Officers and the Equity and Inclusion Officer.
We'll showcase selected artwork across our channels and on campus, spotlighting your submissions, and celebrating your talents.
