Volunteering is a big part of the student culture here at UCL, with around 2000 students taking part in community projects each year. Every Autumn, we elect four Reps to make sure the voices of our student volunteers are heard, and to improve the volunteering experience for everyone.

Angel Au, Volunteering Rep

Angel Au

Hi! I’m Angel, one of the Volunteering Reps and a MSci Psychology student. Since high school, I’ve been organising volunteering programmes and advocating for mental health, the environment and other social issues. As a Volunteering Rep, I hope to encourage more students to volunteer through demystifying the application process and removing potential barriers. I also endeavour to strengthen the student volunteer community by introducing more opportunities for volunteers to discuss their shared enthusiasm and offer feedback to the Volunteering Service. If you have any enquiries, concerns or suggestions about volunteering, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected] and we can figure it out together.

Rishika George, Volunteering Rep

Rishika George

Hi everyone! My name is Rishika Anil George and I am one of the Volunteering Reps for this year. Currently in my third year, I study BSc Economics and Statistics here at UCL. My first introduction to the Volunteering Service was through one of their Fairs in 2019 which helped me meet the organisation I ended up volunteering with that year! I am one of three Administrative Assistants in the Partnerships Team at the Volunteering Service, so I hope to take all suggestions made back to my colleagues where we can actively work on enhancing the experiences of all our volunteers.

My interests lie in cooking, food photography, singing and sketching ?. Feel free to get in touch with me at [email protected].

Shoora Shafeeq, Volunteering Rep

I am Natural Sciences student on the Neuroscience, psychology and medical physics pathway. When I’m not drowning in lectures and assignments you will probably see me volunteering somewhere or staring at overpriced make-up. I am passionate about mentoring, women’s empowerment, education accessibility and outreach. I have been an active volunteer at the Students Union during the past two years and hope to bring suggestions forward make sure that volunteering services at UCL are accessible and fun for any fellow students who want to take part. If you have any questions, concerns or need any help feel free to reach out to me on my email: [email protected]

Katie Townsend, Volunteering Rep

Katie Townsend

Hi! My name is Katie, and I’m a Volunteering Rep, with the hopes of making volunteering fun, easy and accessible for all. My volunteering experience encompasses a number of different fields, from heritage sites, to covid support, to mental health. These have all given me such different insights into the world of volunteering, where it is accessible and where issues arise. I have loved every opportunity I have had to volunteer (which is why I keep finding new things to do!) and would love for everyone to have an opportunity to do the same. I’m always happy for people to come to me with ideas or issues, and am contactable by email: [email protected]. I look forward to starting and can’t wait to work with the volunteering team at UCL!
