We're making improvements to your favourite places on campus.

Our Sabbatical Officers have been working closely with UCL to make sure your most loved spaces on campus continue to improve. Officers have been busy making the case to UCL to enhance student spaces on campus, and their work has led to a long-term plan to invest in and develop Students' Union spaces.

Our spaces (bars, cafes, gym, and activity spaces) should feel like home and be the centre of your campus community. We ask thousands of you what you want from our spaces each year. The feedback is clear: You want spaces to socialise, unwind, focus quietly, and make the most of your time on campus. Our Sabbs have been advocating for these improvements and have made sure your needs have been well-represented in discussions that impact your experience on campus.

More to be announced

We're working on plans to upgrade the Clubs and Societies Common Room and the Conference Room in the Bloomsbury Theatre building. More to come on these exciting projects soon.

Projects completed:

The cosy Print Room Café, right at the heart of campus, has huge outside seating area and a snug interior where you can spend long afternoons studying, meeting friends, or just enjoying a relaxed breakfast. With loads of food options on the menu, the Print Room is one of your favourites as well as yours which is why we pushed for a full refurbishment before reopening in September 2025.

As well as a whole new look additional comfy seating areas were added including benches for quick catch-ups between lectures, more electricity ports and we moved our counter and kitchen to make it easier to place your order.

The TeamUCL Gym

Over the 2024/25 winter break, Bloomsbury Fitness underwent a complete refurbishment, reopening its doors as the TeamUCL Gym. The new gym is modern, spacious, and designed to give you a much better workout experience.

The new TeamUCL gym reopened in January with over 80 top-of-the-line equipment pieces, a spacious free-weights section, and an accessible, thoughtfully designed layout. These upgrades have transformed the gym into a state-of-the-art fitness space that you enjoy being in.

We’re delighted to have secured funding from UCL to refurbish the gym. Students deserve access to high-quality fitness facilities, and this investment ensures they have the resources to prioritise their health and wellbeing while managing their studies.
