We're happy to introduce a new initiative at UCL East, and you can now pick up free sanitary products from the campus! You can ask for sanitary products on Floor 2 of the Marshgate building, either at the Programme Support Centre (Core C), the Library (Core B) or in the Student Support and Wellbeing Hub (Core A).

This is a result of work jointly carried out by the University and the Students' Union since 2022, when the Project Period began. This project had the goal of raising awareness, accessibility and promoting the use of sustainable menstrual products. The university are increasingly aware of the rise of period poverty affecting our students and accessing menstrual products can be challenging for many.

The Students' Union offers additional support for students seeking financial support through the Sarah Douglas Hardship Fund, which helps cover essential living costs for students in need. This fund is available to UCL students facing financial difficulties with no available support options. Successful applicants receive grants to help cover short-term, unexpected expenses; this can include accommodation deposits, rent, transport, specialized supplies or equipment.

Sanitary products can of course be accessed at the Bloomsbury Campus to, either by visiting the Students' Union Advice office, Bloomsbury Theatre (on the 2nd floor and in the gym), or you can ask for products at our bars. Simply speak to the bar staff, and they will provide you with the items you need. Find more on support for your physical health.
