Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.
Each month, we’re featuring your reps and the work they’re doing to improve UCL. If you have an idea about improving your course, your department, or UCL, you can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.
Academic Rep of the Month: Oscar Chong
Oscar impressed us with his responsiveness to student demands and his skillful use of the Student Partnership Committee (SPC) system to not only voice his peers' concerns but make sure action was taken to address them.
Oscar has also shown his awareness of time sensitive issues and reacted accordingly with efficiency to make sure that the students he represents have the support they need when they need it.
Thank you for all of your hard work, Oscar!
Here's a quick word from Oscar:

Being a student rep is undoubtedly a rewarding experience. It has allowed me to widen my social circle, connecting with students across different programs and staff within my department.
My daily tasks mainly involve liaising with module leaders and the program team to voice general student concerns regarding teaching and learning, with a primary focus on clarifying assessment requirements.
However, there have been specific memorable moments where I strongly felt the impact of my role. I vividly remember successfully helping students waive late submission penalties when Moodle was inaccessible on the deadline, as well as negotiating an opportunity to redo assignments due to contradictory instructions in the brief.
I look forward to continuing to act as a bridge between students and staff and resolving as many issues as possible!
