Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.
Each month, we’re featuring your reps and the work they’re doing to improve UCL. If you have an idea about improving your course, your department, or UCL, you can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.
November's Academic Rep of the Month: Isha Parvaiz
Isha has impressed us with her efforts in trying to make students feel more connected and supported as Rep within the Department of Space & Climate Physics.
She's worked on organising trips and events, setting up shared online spaces, and spent extra time liaising with administrators to better support her department and Faculty. She's been particularly keen on career opportunities for students and has set time aside to chat with them about further support.
Isha has plans for many more initiatives in the coming year, and we wish her the best of luck with them!
Here's a bit more about Isha:

Hey guys! My name is Isha, and I’m a Space Science & Engineering Masters Student at UCL. I’m representing my cohort as an Academic Rep, as well as being the Lead Rep for the Department of Space & Climate Physics. I’m extremely honoured to be selected as Rep of the Month!
I became a rep because I wanted to help students feel more connected and supported. One of the projects I’m currently working on is organising a trip for the SS&C Department students to visit Harwell Campus, a prestigious innovation hub in Oxfordshire that’s home to world-leading space facilities like RAL Space and the European Space Agency. Having worked at Harwell Campus during my internship with ESA, I was able to reach out to people to help make this trip happen. It will be a great opportunity for students to experience cutting-edge technology, meet professionals in the field, and learn about exciting career pathways in the space sector!
Alongside the other reps in the department, I've helped to organise the department’s Christmas party and am working on ways to keep students engaged and supported: with examples including setting up a shared Google Drive and a Group Chat to keep us connected. I’m really looking forward to continuing these projects and taking on new initiatives next term to make the student experience even better!
