Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.

Each month, we’re featuring your reps and the work they’re doing to improve UCL. If you have an idea about improving your course, your department, or UCL, you can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.

March's Academic Rep of the Month: Lucy Porte

Lucy has impressed us with her efforts in organising Population Health Sciences' first ever hackathon in May, which will focus on using AI to solve global health challenges.

She is also working hard to improve feedback loop processes in her department and advocating for improved communication to students at UCL at university-wide SPCs, actively liaising with staff to do so, all the while carrying out her regular Lead Department Rep duties and promoting collaboration.

Lucy's work has been exceptional and we wish her all the best in the future!

Here's a bit more about Lucy:

Hi, I'm Lucy and I'm the Lead Rep for the Institute of Health Informatics. I've really enjoyed being a Rep this year and getting to partake in numerous committees to improve student life within and outside the Institute.

Most excitingly, I've helped to arrange the Faculty of Population Health Science's first ever hackathon, which will take place on the 24th-25th May. The hackathon will bring together AI, business and clinical themes with the aim of solving global health challenges.

I've found that being a Rep has really enriched my experience at UCL.
