Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union - they make sure you have a voice in your education.

Each month, we’re featuring your reps and the work they’re doing to make UCL better. If you have an idea about how to improve your course, your department or UCL you can contact your own Academic Rep using our Find Your Rep page.

December's Academic Rep of the Month: Ali Asiri

Ali has massively impressed us with the wide range of initiatives that he took to improve the educational experience and well-being of his peers. See below some of the things Ali has done:

  • Communicated student concerns to achieve change in how one of the modules was ran and examined
  • Organised group study sessions which also provided opportunities for students to socialise
  • Worked with department staff to reschedule teaching as needed
  • Regularly surveyed his peers to communicate their concerns to the SSCC
  • Represented students in administrative issues

These are all great actions that acheive real change. Thank you Ali for being a proactive Academic Representative and improving your fellow peers’ UCL experience.

Fantastic Job!

Here's a bit more about Ali:

My name is Ali and I have been fortunate enough to serve as the MSc Dental Public Health program academic representative at UCL since October of this year. It has been an absolute pleasure to hold this position and work alongside my fellow students to enhance their experience at our esteemed institution.

As a passionate and dedicated individual, I am constantly striving to improve the quality of education and support available to my peers. Winning the rep of the month award has been a great honor and has served as a testament to my commitment to excellence. I am proud to have been recognized for my efforts, but more importantly, I am motivated to continue working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those around me.

One of my primary goals this year is to ease the journey of my fellow students in UCL by providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive academically and personally. Whether it is through organizing study groups, advocating for student needs, or simply being a listening ear, I am committed to doing everything in my power to make their experience at UCL as fulfilling and rewarding as possible.

I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to express my gratitude to all of the staff members and individuals who have played a role in making UCL the incredible community that it is today. From the faculty members who inspire us with their knowledge and expertise, to the support staff who keep our campus running smoothly, each and every person has contributed to creating an environment where students can thrive.

In closing, I would like to say that I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the MSc Dental Public Health program academic representative at UCL. It is a privilege to be part of such an outstanding institution and I look forward to continuing my work alongside my fellow students and staff members in the months to come.
