Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They represent your academic interests and ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.
For Term Two, we are showcasing our Academic Reps through our 'Academic Rep in Focus' weekly segment. You can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.
Academic Rep in Focus: Jiamin Tang
Jiamin is a course rep for the MA Primary Education Programme and the lead departmental rep for the Department of Learning and Leadership.
Jiamin organized English Communication sessions based on her classmates’ feedback to help them connect with each other and practice speaking in confidence.
To promote inclusivity, she collaborated with Millie Wotton, the Student Services Officer, to host a Spring Festival Celebration at IOE on January 29th. This event aimed to break cultural barriers and share Chinese New Year traditions, during which over 60 ‘Hong Bao’ (red envelopes), Chinese calligraphy works, and ‘Wang Wang rice crackers’ were given as prizes for a New Year Traditions Q&A game.
Here's what Jiamin has to say about her experience as an Academic Rep:
Serving as a Representative has been a deeply rewarding experience. I am honored to amplify the voices of my peers, provide meaningful support, and contribute to fostering a collaborative and inclusive community.

We'd like to thank Jiamin for all of her hard work so far this academic year!
