Academic Rep in Focus: Hora Behnejad

Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They represent your academic interests and ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.

For Term Two, we are showcasing our Academic Reps through our 'Academic Rep in focus' weekly segment. You can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.

Academic Rep in Focus: Hora Behnejad

Hora Behnejad is a final year Civil Engineering MEng student and the Lead Departmental Rep for the Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) Department. Inspired by her year studying abroad at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2023-24, she returned to UCL determined to drive positive change within her department. This year, she has worked closely with staff to push for better exam resources for students. She has also been developing a more structured way to recognise student accomplishments (through celebration events and the department social media), fostering a stronger sense of community within CEGE.

Here's what Hora has to say about her experience as an Academic Rep:

Being a rep has been a fantastic experience. Knowing that the work we do now will benefit students for years to come makes the role incredibly rewarding.

We'd like to thank Hora for all of her hard work so far this academic year!
