Telling the stories our Reps encounter along their journeys is so essential for helping students' understand the important work they do. We want to know all about the lessosn Reps learn and the successes they have so we can share them with the wider community. Please get in touch via email ([email protected]) if you'd like to tell your story to - we'd love to hear from you!

Hi everyone! My name is Armani Tanna and I study Cancer Biomedicine and I am the Faculty Rep for the Faculty of Medical Sciences (Non-Clinical).

I was motivated to become an Academic Rep last year because I had done some previous leadership work at school, like being a prefect and being on the Girls-In-Sport committee, and I wanted to expand this further at university to improve things such as lecture communications and inductions.

I really enjoyed my time as an Academic Rep last year so I decided to run for Faculty Rep this year and I absolutely love it! It has been such a rewarding experience to promote change and work amongst the great team in the SU and organise events, such as me and one of my Lead Department Reps organised a pizza and board games social for our Faculty last term, which was a huge success! I have also been working on improving Year 1 experiences and inductions and also looking at ways to improve feedback, and my Lead Department Reps have been great and provided really valuable feedback!

One of the benefits of being Faculty Rep is the fact that I attend Education Zone and we get the opportunity to question ways to ensure everyone has the best experience at UCL. I really enjoyed the Academic Reps Conference in February, and I even got the honour to be on the panel, where I answered questions about my experience as a Rep.

The day overall was great and it was lovely to meet so many other Reps from other departments and faculties and see what they had been doing, and also to have the sessions to learn more about how to make the most of being a Rep and how to communicate and gather feedback from our peers. If you are considering running for Rep next year, I would say go for it! It is such a rewarding experience and a great opportunity and I have enjoyed every minute of it!
