The society’s aim is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for students and alumni of the first generation in their family to enter higher education and ethnic minority students. We’re helping to ensure the welfare of a portion of UCL’s student body that often feels marginalised and unwelcome. Our activity supports students through an online community, regular events (career, social and skills-focused) and we are working with UCL’s Widening Participation team in relation to support their interventions. We have career events planned for a variety of industries (banking, finance, consulting, education, technology etc.) and monthly socials!
This academic year, we are running our mentoring programme for the fourth year! We have over 20 mentors from a variety of industries. This programme will be launched during October. Also, we will we launching a buddy scheme for another academic year to support society members to make friends. This will be launching in October for Term 1 and then again in Term 2 so you can have the opportunity to get to know another person in the society!
